At Highlander Academy class sizes are small, typically 12 students or less, allowing

teachers to actively involve students in discussions, draw out their thoughts, and focus

on special areas of interest or need.  Highlander Academy faculty members have time

to get to know each student's special gifts and needs and provide extra support or

opportunities as warranted. Faculty members interact with students in a number of

different roles and provide mentoring relationships and support for students.

Highlander Academy accepts candidates with the following qualifications:

​

• Bachelor's degree in the discipline for which applying; advanced degrees encouraged (NC certification required).

• Prior teaching experience preferred, but not essential.

• A strong interest in working with children.

• Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.

• Dedication to professional growth.
